Center officially welcomes national and international students
A total of 35 students have been admitted in three PhD and five MSc programs for the 2019/2020 academic year.
Affiliated faculty of AAU, ACEWM management and staff gathered to officially welcome the students. The event provided a good opportunity to socialize among themselves and the Center staff, faculty and the management.
Speaking at the welcome event, Dr Feleke Zewge, Center Director highlighted that such regional programs are crucial in producing world class scholars with a potential of tackling development challenges, particularly water related challenges.
“The Center, jointly with its national, regional and international partners continues to embark on high quality post-graduate education, training and research through its excellent faculty and carefully recruited young MSc and PhD students,” added Dr. Feleke.
Some students among the participants of the event also expressed their impression of the Center’s commitment to excellence in education, training and research.
Mohammed Ahimed, MSc student from Somalia said, “As water related challenges are serious in the horn Africa particularly posing severe problems to the people of Somalia, I am grateful for this opportunity that would allow me gain expertise knowledge and strive to help my people in dealing with the complications of water shortage and poor water quality.
Eden Eritrea, another MSc student from Ethiopia also mentioned that indispensable role of good quality water management education and research in dealing with water management related challenges in the horn of Africa and beyond.
