NORHEDII Project Workshop Meeting was held on March 03, 2022, at Inter-Luxury Hotel Addis Ababa. The one-day workshop was held to sign an academic cooperation agreement with the Arctic University of Norway (UiT) and discuss the overall progress of the project.
In his introductory presentation, Director of ACEWM Dr. Feleke Zewge briefly demonstrated the teaching, research, and community engagements of ACEWM to participants of the workshop. Following his presentation, the Urban-Suburban Nexus Towards One Health Approach Project (NORHED II) was presented by Dr. Fasil Eregno, Associate Professor in the Department of Building, Energy, and Material Technology and NORHED II Project Coordinator (UiT). He also gave a brief review of the Arctic University of Norway (UiT) and the multi-disciplinary consortium between Addis Ababa University (AAU), and the Malawi University of Science and Technology (MUST).
After the technical and financial reports were presented, participants of the workshop discussed on challenges of the project and risks and mitigation measures. They also deliberate on the 2022 action plan based on the result framework of the One Health Project.
The following day, members of the NORHED Project team from Norway Prof. Calay, Rajnish Kaur, Research group leader in the department of building, energy, and material technology (UiT), and Dr. Fasil Eregno, NORHED II Project Coordinator (UiT) visited ACEWM and discussed ways of collaboration with other similar Norad projects in AAU.
The One Health Education and Research project is funded by NORAD (Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation) through the NORHED II Programme working on capacity development in higher education and research for development. The project brings together a multi-disciplinary consortium from The Arctic University of Norway (UiT), the Norwegian Veterinary Institute (NVI), the Norwegian Institute of Bioeconomy Research (NIBIO), Addis Ababa University (AAU), and the Malawi University of Science and Technology (MUST).
