Water and Wastewater Science and Technology

African countries face the key challenge that monitoring and assessment of water quality are still insufficient. There is a lack of knowledge about inventories of contamination including regional pollution patterns as well as in the personnel and infrastructural capacities to survey water quality.

African countries face the key challenge that monitoring and assessment of water quality are still insufficient. There is a lack of knowledge about inventories of contamination including regional pollution patterns as well as in the personnel and infrastructural capacities to survey water quality. Water quality issues are a significant threat to surface and ground waters; thus, available water resources need to be increased with the development of innovative technologies. Also, the development of novel wastewater treatment technologies suitable in the context of Africa deserves high priority. The specific research topics are the followings:

  • Water quality monitoring and risk assessment
  • Innovative technologies for water purification and wastewater treatment
